Position: Sr Technical Writer - Web Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts Raytheon seeks a technical writer who will contribute to the development of next generation of FAA safety inspection systems. The position involves working with a software development team, including Customers, End Users, Business Analysts, Architects, Designers, Developers, Testers, and other stakeholders to generate, review, and revise documentation deliverables associated with a large multi-year software development project. The software development effort follows an FAA System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) that calls for a range of documentation products to be produced and delivered in conjunction with developed software. Essential Job Functions ? Determines the scope and estimates the effort to generate documentation required by the FAA SDLC. ? Interviews developers and other technical personnel, reads previous documentation and design notes, and uses on-line resources to gather and research technical information for use in documentation. ? Reviews and revises documents prepared by others and coordinates the preparation of those materials for a completed product. ? Establishes and creates style guidelines and standards for text and illustrations to meet business needs. ? Defines criteria and participates in document peer reviews to ensure the clarity, completeness, and accuracy of documents produced ? Edits documents produced by other team members to improve organization, use of English, and document formatting. ? Ensures documents adhere to established standards and guidelines. Recommends revisions to standards and guidelines. ? Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel. ? Follows best practice for document configuration management and change control Require Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills: - 6+ years of related experienc - Experience working with desktop publishing, word processing, and on-line documentation software - Experience working with industry writing style such as grammar, sentence form, and structure - Experience working with company software products - Experience developing web-based business application or data query software docs for end-users - Experience using an XML-based documentation tool, especially MadCap Flare. - Experience writing for internal technical audience, including business requirements and architecture overviews. Education Experience: ?
