Process Engineer

We are currently seeking a Process Engineer-Body Shop for our Process Engineering Department.

 

The purpose of this position is to define and continuously improve the process of the body shop in order to meet or exceed the shop’s safety, quality, efficiency, and cost targets in accord with the Mercedes Production System (MPS).

 

Essential Functions of the position are to:

·         Ensure process integrity through implementation of MPS

·         Audit existing processes to ensure the highest level of team member safety, production quality, line thru-put is maintained.

·         Lead problem solving activities in cross functional groups to solve process/product/system failures.

·         Plan and prepare product changes and their impact on process, equipment, tooling, etc.

·         Manage all trials and changes which impact production safety, quality efficiency or cost.

·         Manage shop thru-put by analyzing station cycle time, variant management, and WIP standards.

·         Assist in training for production team members, team leaders, and group leaders on product process changes.

·         Manage and coordinate outside contractor activities, which include bid package preparation (scope of work, specifications, installation, buy-off and scheduling).

·         Assist with training for new technologies.

·         Ensure proper level of self sufficiency for multiple technologies in the Body Shop through classroom and hands on training.

·         Ensuring supplier is enrolled in the start system

·         Review equipment and shop layout proposals/drawings for input to process capability and MPS.

·         Continuously improve the performance of manned automated stations in the body assembly area and final fit and finish.

Perform other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related area, or equivalent education and experience required. 3 years experience in automated body-in-white assembly environment. Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Applications (Word/E,xce/Powerpoint/Project). Must be willing to rotate shifts, work overtime as well as weekends if required as well as shutdown periods. Must also be willing to travel domestically and abroad if required.

 

Preferred Skills:

·         AutoCAD, Catia V5, SAP, Vis View v8

·         Highly motivated, independent and ability to work in a team environment.

·         Ability to lead cross functional problem solving activities.

·         Working knowledge of process engineering supported technologies: Kuka robotics, Perceptron vision system, KTB3 sealer application/Quiss vision, Keyence vision system, Bosch resistance welding controllers, Emhart Stud  welding systems, Fronius MIG welders, Atlas Copco/Cooper Torque Tools.
