Process Engineer

A leading edge global engineering, maintenance and component manufacturing service company for the semiconductor and other high-tech industries is in search of a process engineer for it's Southwest operation.

Summary

This position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining processes to ISO documented standards and procedures.  This includes UHV cleaning, selective chemical stripping, surface texturizing, surface enhancement, coatings, maintenance and SPC control of all processes.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities include developing, editing, maintaining and continuous improvement of assigned processes to ISO documented procedures.  Work hand in hand with operations on process improvement, PM procedures, equipment calibration, service, installation, qualification and facility design. Develop design of experiments (DOE), perform the experiments and develop conclusions and recommendations from those DOE’s to customers and the management team.  Take leadership in the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of SPC and other quality controls.  Work with the sales team and customers to perform failure analysis on external and internal processes, equipment and parts.  Always maintain, adhere and promote environmentally sound and safe working practices and procedures.  Other duties may be assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

No regular direct supervisory responsibility.  From time to time, may be assigned as team or project leader with temporary assigned team members.

education AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Preferred employee will have a BS or MS in a technical field (Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred) as a new graduate to 5+ year’s process engineering experience.  The employee can also have a BS or MS degree in a related technical field (Math, Science, Other Engineering) with 5+ years experience in a process engineering role that has included functions in at least one of the following areas, chemical cleaning/processing, coatings, RD, or surface treatments/enhancements.

 

Employee must be extremely proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel software programs. Employee must have general knowledge and basic usage understanding of Microsoft Access, SAP or other ERP systems, and familiarity with general SPC software programs.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Employee must be proficient in English and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.  Employee must have the ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, detailed correspondence and memos.  Employee must possess the ability to write detailed and succinct business correspondences, reports and instructions in English. Including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers, auditors, and company management.

The position requires the regular use of computers, telephones and other communication devices.  Employee must be able to access confined spaces when necessary. Employee will also be working with and around chemicals and possibly be required to wear and use a respirator device along with the appropriate PPE based on the area and work being performed.  The employee must be able to move or transport objects weighing up to 50lbs.

 

work ENVIRONMENT:

Most of the work day will be in manufacturing/factory areas that include but not limited to process chemical baths, grit blasters, thermal spray booths, machine tools, QC labs, Cleanrooms, and shipping and receiving areas.  There is a possibility that there will be time spent in chemical areas, customer sites, building support spaces and roof tops. The office areas will be clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated. Use of protective safety equipment will be required while working in all production/manufacturing areas per documented PPE protocols.

Organization Relationships:

The Process Engineer reports directly to the CTO of the company and has a support responsibility to all functional managers and directors.
