Duties and Responsibilities
Direct and continuously improve CEP manufacturing processes to meet CEP operation objectives, including maximizing on time delivery, consistent product quality and lowest possible costs. Work directly with CEP Sales and Marketing, CEP Process Planners, and internal and external manufacturing resources to accomplish these goals. Develop and maintain the professional skills needed to improve CEP business opportunities and assure personal success.
- Assist Customers, Sales, internal operations and outside manufacturing sources to meet CEP operating objectives. Support Sales and Marketing in responding to customer inquiries.
- Evaluate capabilities of internal and outside manufacturing sources on new product inquiries. Support transition of products from low rate production to standardized manufacturing process.
- Provide cost quotations to Sales on new CEP products.
- Develop and maintain process routings for CEP products.
- Coordinate the manufacture of products at external manufacturing sources.
- Provide technical support to CEP group.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
- Develop process control methods to insure consistent product quality. Monitor key operating parameters and report as needed.
- Lead and track progress on projects to improve CEP operating performance.
- Investigate customer complaints as required, providing root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support the Lean Sigma Program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills
- Bachelors degree in Material Science or Metallurgical Engineering. Masters degree in Material Science or Metallurgical Engineering preferred
- 1 - 10 plus years in manufacturing with emphasis on metalworking (forging, extrusion, etc.) and machining processes. Advanced degree in lieu of experience.
- Experience working with customers and internal sales to meet customer requirements and expectations preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to work safely in manufacturing environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with operators, peers, managers and customers. Must be effective at facilitating group activity and able to work well with teams.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Proficient with SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, and CAD.
- Certified Green Belt or Black Belt in Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma methods.
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or be a lawful Permanent Resident of the United States
Travel
No regular travel is required; only on as-needed basis; less than 10% of time.
