BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the general supervision of the Area Manager, the Process Engineer II will be responsible for performing a variety of engineering duties related to the planning and repair of products, improving manufacturing methods, achieving quality standards, and initiating process changes for cost effectiveness; utilize engineering judgment and responsibility to resolve customer inquiries and coordinate with design engineering; support the development of internal systems to ensure efficient processing of aftermarket work orders.
SPECIFICALLY, THE PROCESS ENGINEER WILL:
- Act as the primary coordinator for matters relating to refurbishing aftermarket products.
- Determine requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, and methods of manufacturing.
- Investigate manufacturing problems. Evaluate and recommend changes in manufacturing systems, procedures, and operating techniques, and initiate corrective action.
- Analyze mechanical seal design and component part design, prepare drawings, sketches and specifications required to engineer or modify existing company products to each customer's needs.
- Determine that the proposed manufacturing processes and equipment have sufficient capability to meet quality requirements by analyzing capability studies, control charts, and other statistical data.
- Communicate orally and in writing with customers, sales and company personnel and vendors providing counseling, recommendations and technical assistance.
- Determine which product and process quality characteristics require capability studies. Analyze results of studies and submit recommendation to meet manufacturing quality requirements/audits.
- Evaluate and recommend modifications to equipment, design, tooling, manufacturing processes, and methods.
- Develop proposals for automation and methods for the purpose of cost reduction.
- Initiate process and routing sheets by establishing the sequence of operations, assigning work centers and providing productions rates and initiate time studies to establish time standards.
- Recommend and complete required documentation for the acquisition of equipment, tools, materials and services.
- Confer with vendors and suppliers in regard to tooling availability, information, quotes, delivery dates, completion of projects, and new products and designs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
A bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Quality Engineering or equivalent is required. Must have 3 to 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Must be a self-starter, able to work in a team environment, and perform a variety of duties without loss of efficiency. Knowledge of Access, Excel, basic programming database management is a plus.
