POSITION SUMMARY
Develop and implement World Class Manufacturing projects, production and processing methods, and controls to meet customer based quality standards in the most cost effective manner. Through the application of process engineering fundamentals and advanced process control statistical tools, ensure processes are centered, capable and in control, reduce process variations and resolve special causes of variation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Accountable for maintaining a safe work environment and the safety management of assigned employees. Must recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss. Required to complete safety audits/inspections of the assigned work area; thorough investigations of incidents and accidents, job safety analysis and have periodic safety meetings.
• First line of contact for Teams with respect to operational trouble-shooting, process improvement projects, production materials requirements, raw materials availability and Quality Step Zero requirements.
• Typical problem solving situations include analyzing operating problems, developing solutions and leading the implementation of corrective action, using advanced statistical tools to reduce process variations, identifying and resolving special cause variation in the process, and participating to resolve critical process and product problems with customers and vendors.
• Accumulates technical data and other background information, determines equipment performance specifications and establish baselines. Interpret and extrapolate accumulated data to prepare diagrams and flow charts for the efficient operation of the equipment.
• Lead the WCM Pillar Leader for Early Equipment Management and be a senior advisor for Focused Improvement and Professional Maintenance teams.
• Design and/or development of new process systems and/or revision of existing processes.
• Develop and coordinate implementation of projects, which contribute substantially to plant profitability.
• Assist with preparing programs for computer control systems.
• Prepare and coordinate operational information and data for plant management.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions.
• External contacts include consultants and suppliers to determine the compatibility of other systems, products and personnel as they may apply to process improvement.
• Analyzes operating problems, develops solutions and leads with implementation of corrective action.
• Receives and collect, interprets and extrapolates data from the production process to monitor current performance against established baselines.
• Makes recommendations to improve efficiencies.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate WCM teams in analyzing process variations and developing solutions leading to the implementation of corrective action by using advance statistical tools in identifying and resolving the root causes of these variations in the process.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
• Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering preferably chemical engineering or at least 5 years of equivalent process experience in an industrial environment to have comprehensive knowledge o the practices, principles and regulations associated with process engineer.
• 7 to 10 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 2 to 3 years of project related experience with strong working knowledge of project management and project engineering fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of advanced statistical tools used to reduce variations.
• Working knowledge of safety and environmental regulations. Have strong working knowledge of project management project engineering fundamentals.
• Requires typing and computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite; ability to organize and create work schedules; solve problems; provide leadership and work well with other al all organizational levels.
• Must be flexible to adapt to changing and varying work requirements.

PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. Demonstrated experience leading logical performance improvement projects in the gypsum industry. Experience in industries that utilize bulk materials handling processes. Adaptability, customer and supplier focus, good written and oral communication skills, self-motivated, and venturesome. Requires moderate typing skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
Has latitude for independent judgement and discretion to execute primary objective within established policies, procedures and practices. Secures prior approval for unusual or out of policy actions. Responsible for Capital Project budget including all aspects from planning to execution.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY
Provides primary project leadership and technical direction to designers, contractors and CertainTeed employees assigned to a project. Area / Process / Pillar leadership required using indirect leadership skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in an office manufacturing plant environment with exposure to dust, chemicals, temperature changes and noise. Plant is a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation which involves being in an on-call rotation and work hours may vary depending on business needs. Occasional long hours and weekend and holiday work may be required. May travel as needed, usually via airplanes and rental cars.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to spend significant amount of time on plant floor requiring considerable walking. Job requires bending, stooping, climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain and infrequent lifting of up to 75lbs. Must be able to wear mandated personal protective equipment per areas accessed.
