Biomanufacturing Engineer – Millipore Biomanufacturing Sciences Network (BSN)
 
EMD Millipore is looking for an Engineer to join the Biomanufacturing Engineering Group (BME) - a team of engineers and scientists within the Biomanufacturing Sciences Network (BSN) dedicated to supporting EMD Millipore's technologies in the biopharmaceutical industry in North America.
The BioManufacturing Engineer will primarily have technical responsibilities for proactively pursuing and performing process development, scale-up and manufacturing support in the upstream and downstream biopharmaceutical operations as well as fill and finish operations. The focus will be on biopharmaceutical best practices, process development and scale-up from clinical manufacturing through commercial manufacturing.
 
The Biomanufacturing Engineering group works with the following EMD Millipore technologies: sterile filtration, tangential flow filtration, primary and secondary clarification, viral reduction filtration, mixing, as well as chromatography and integration of these processes. The candidate will work closely with development and technical support teams of our clients and also with EMD Millipore's Marketing and RD departments. The candidate will be recognized by our customers and within EMD Millipore organization as a subject matter expert and a key technical resource, competent in all aspects of biopharmaceutical processes. 
 
The Biomanufacturing Engineer will also have secondary technical responsibilities focused on large systems engineering projects.  The purpose of this position would be to review process descriptions, interpret process requirements, initiate design development, and create automated process recipes for large, complex engineered systems projects. These projects are skid mounted normal flow filtration, tangential flow filtration or chromatography systems designed for the purification of biopharmaceuticals.

Job Requirements:
Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering (preferred) and 4-7 year’s related experience.  The position requires a sound knowledge of the principles and application of chemical engineering fundamentals - especially fluid dynamics - coupled with a hands-on, practical sensibility of engineering design. A clear understanding of scaling requirements and constraints in biopharmaceutical applications.  Experience with biopharmaceutical separations and processing at manufacturing, pilot, and/or lab scale. Experience with systems design, installation, validation, and control software is highly preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-driven focus are required. Excellent data analysis and organizational skills. Candidate must possess an ability to take a leadership role in complex projects involving diverse groups of individuals. Up to 25% travel required.
