Overview:
Agfa Corporation's plate manufacturing facility located in Branchburg, New Jersey produces analog as well as thermal, visible light and chemistry-free digital plates that offer advanced solutions for different printing applications. Approximately 180 employees in manufacturing, engineering support and other administrative and production support functions work in this facility.
Our Branchburg, NJ location is looking for a Process Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for adherence to quality standards, yields, and line efficiency standards and the technical reliability of the installation;. Actively leading improvements to processes/products and work methods, and expected to participate/ execute in production and engineering improvement projects as required. Provide training, and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in a high technology continuous manufacturing environment to insure production schedules are met in a timely fashion while maintaining product quality and employee safety.
Major Accountabilities:
40%
Responsible for all escalation and day-to-day issues related to in-line Converting issues (yield/rework/downtimes). In depth analysis and troubleshooting to identify the root cause of the problem and propose technical/operational solution.

Initiate, Prioritize and support/facilitate the execution of engineering and maintenance reliability work
15%
Lead [or execute] in process improvement and Engineering Reliability projects
15%
Hands-on for continuous improvement and/or throughput
10%
Responsible for training and SOP's for new products/processes introduction
This position needs to make decisions on a line that is producing at a value of $10,000/hour which:
- Quality: The line production is the key contributor of the product quality and the product quality is a key differentiator in the market. The efficiency and yields of the process is a key contributor to the success of the NAFTA Graphics Group
- Safety, Health, Environment (SHE): There are a number of SHE concerns at the line [automated equipment, flammable solvents, acids/caustics…]
- Supply: The line is a key part of the NAFTA supply chain
- Cost: The quality of the line production has significant impact upon the business
- People: The people who keep the line running must be qualified and motivated.
Qualifications:
Education
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Advanced degree in engineering preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years in a high technology, lean manufacturing environment in a process engineering role, required. PLC knowledge is an added value.
- Experience with Control systems, Instrumentation systems preferred.
Specific skills:
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and understand/ improve the technical aspects of the production process, experience with complex mechanical and electrical processes.
- Communicate effectively with all levels, from top management to the shop floor
- Hands-on, able to implement basic equipment modifications to support continuous process improvement.
- Process analysis, steering, automation, benchmarking studies
- Knowledge of statistical tools (preferably six sigma black belt)
- Project management skills, good reporting skills, summarizing
- Strong leadership skills to drive continuous improvement manage processes and implement new concepts. Strong interpersonal skills needed to interact and coach a diverse group of people
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Plc skills.
