Houston specialty chemical manufacturer seeks a mid-level Process Engineer in Houston, TX area. Must have full lifecyle capital projects project engineering and management experience. Full-time direct hire position. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an established and growing company. Local candidates preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead small to medium size capital projects and specialty chemical projects throughout the entire life cycle of the project.
- Independently prepare calculations, simulations, specifications and other engineering assignments as assigned, generate request for funding, schedule meetings, track costs, etc.
- Provide scale-up from laboratory and pilot plant data to industrial processes.
- Process design background including equipment sizing and specification, heat and material balances, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrument Diagram (PID) development, relief load calculations, and instrument specifications is required.
- Report to the Director of Engineering and execute work assigned on schedule and on budget.
- Participate in process hazard analyses (PHA), and participate and/or lead projects to address recommendations arising from PHA’s.
- Support health, safety, and environmental objectives at the plant by participating in projects, leading studies, and conducting behavioral safety observations
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required, with chemical process experience
- At least 5 years experience in chemical plants, specialty chemical manufacturing, petrochemical or refining industries required. Advanced degree considered in lieu of this
- Sound knowledge of basic and theoretical chemical engineering principles required
- PLUSES: Experience working at a batch chemical plant; HAZOP Safety Leader training; ETS Experience; Experience with Aspen packages
- Practical knowledge of process design, development of (PFDs), (PIDs), and process equipment specification sheets
- Troubleshooting experience at a manufacturing site, project engineering and project management and project justification and economic analysis
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders, decisive and confident, a strong hands-on team player who's a true go-getter
