POSITION SCOPE:
The Process Engineer provides technical support and leadership within the department, including developing and implementing best practices to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction. Develops specific performance parameters for machine operations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the mill’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI) management system as required. This will include updating operator rounds, auditing of operations for out of range process variables and working with management and hourly employees to correct out of range KPI’s.

- Drives best practices in safe operations and ensure the safety of all operations, maintenance and staff personnel.

- Monitors and determines the efficient and effective use of the full spectrum on chemistry on all four machines. Evaluates the economic use of established chemical controls as well as any trial chemistry being evaluated for use.

- Manages the cleaning systems on paper machines and primary, secondary and other extended systems associated with paper machines. This includes balances and periodic inspections as designated by the superintendent of either paper machine.

- Monitors and maintains process control instrumentation, sampling and verification of process indication, maintaining the equipment in the paper machines and stock approach systems.

-  Acts as a liaison between operations and RD for purpose of new product trials, coating trials or cost reduction projects. This includes maintaining/updating MSDS listings, and interfacing with the environmental department to meet requirements such that State and Federal laws are met.

-  Responsible for vendor compliance with mill safety rules for storage, inventory and handling.   These responsibilities will include CA and all respective coating needs on the paper machines.

-  Provides support for process improvement projects. These projects will involve chemicals, mechanical improvements, support for on machine trials and investigations of new technologies. 

 - Responsible for helping meet the operational targets for paper machine rooms.

-  Assumes responsibilities of the Product Engineer during vacancies

POSITION EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Understanding of paper machine operations, customer requirements and budgetary controls.
- Minimum of 1-3 years work experience in paper machine area.
- Proficient in computer software (i.e. EXCEL, WORD, POWERPOINT, SAP)

EDUCATION:
Bachelor Degree - Chemical Engineering, or Pulp Paper Science, or other engineering discipline
