Design Group Staffing has been contracted by an established company to identify, evaluate and place a Process Engineer professional who will stand out amongst their peers and who is seeking career growth opportunities.

 

Our client a leader in the design and manufacturing of switchgear for electrical distribution systems (15kV to 38kV). Their customers are primarily Government Agencies, Municipal Utilities, Electric Utilities, Universities, Military Installations and Large Industrials.They are currently looking at adding an Epox Line to their manufacturing facility. As a result of this growth they are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer with plastic injection molding experience. This role requires an outgoing, versatile and energetic individual who has a keen sense for quality and urgency.
The Process Engineer will be responsible for the development of systems for process control in the EPOX department. Includes documentation and training on process tasks and techniques. Manages engineering changes and new product development as it is released to manufacturing.

 

This position requires 6 months training in Chicago, Illinois.

Responsibilities
Define and maintain written documentation of processes in EPOX department, including those associated with monitoring process control
Train others as necessary
Responsible for the development of systems for process control in the EPOX department. Includes documentation and training on process tasks and techniques
Manage engineering changes and new product development as it is released to manufacturing
Establish critical characteristics for all processes and systems for monitoring those variables
Maintain documentation of test results and experiments
Review and institute storage and handling requirements for incoming and in-process materials
Conduct process audits in association with Quality Department and Molding Manager
Develop appropriate processes to ensure consistent product quality and yield for all molded assemblies/parts in the EPOX department
Establish process controls for each of the above processes for proper monitoring and control of production activities
Establish and control appropriate metrics for process monitoring and management review
Develop and maintain tooling maintenance and documentation for molds and routinely refurbished or replace components in the molding process
Participate in continual improvement events and follow up activities

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

5+ years experience within a chemical or similar (petro, pharmaceutical, food/beverage) process environment
Bachelors degree in related field
Must be familiar with ISO (QS9000) standards
Proven experience with Six Sigma (w/certification) or Statistical Process Control preferred
Experience with PLC programming and industrial controls desired
Previous history with molding of two components, liquid thermoset plastics, cast resin compounds and vacuum casting is a plus
Knowledge of fluid dispensing systems or centralized material delivery systems
Experience with gelation molding and ring line dispensing systems a plus.
