Alcoa is in search of a Process Engineering Leader. The position is located in Morristown, TN.
Alcoa Howmet's casting support operation in Morristown is a top supplier of complex ceramic cores, which form the internal cooling passages of investment-cast turbine airfoils used in the aircraft engine and industrial gas turbine industries. The facility specializes in the high-volume production of complex ceramic cores used in the casting of reactive and nonreactive single crystal, directionally solidified and equiax alloys. The cores range in size from less than one to more than 30 inches in length. The casting support operation has been located in Morristown, Tennessee, since 1986, where it occupies 121,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
The Process Engineering Leader is dedicated to technical leadership of the Process Engineering team, and the support of manufacturing by providing a reliable, in-control and capable materials, thermal, and coatings processes. The successful candidate in the position will provide technical leadership for initiatives to achieve process improvements (i.e. variation reduction) and cost reduction goals related to the materials, thermal, and coatings processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive Process Management and the required Alcoa Self Assessment (ASAT) audits
- Manage the compliance to the periodic testing requirements and specifications for the processes
- Oversight for the insurance that all process defects are analyzed through root cause and that corrective actions are implemented and sustained
- Drive implementation of new technologies
- Keep abreast of technical innovations in the industry
- Prepare budgetary information and capital requests on equipment for process improvements
- Support manufacturing with problem solving and corrective actions, process improvement initiatives and daily production efforts
- Support process activities equipment reliability initiatives as they relate to the coating, injection, thermal, and ceramic materials processes
Skills:
- Knowledge of MS Office
- Strong analytical abilities and leadership skills with the ability manage the process team interactions between internal/external customer environments
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Chemical, Materials, Ceramic or Mechanical Engineering
- 5 or more years engineering experience
