Process Engineer/Senior Process Engineer Biofuel/Ethanol Job in Vero Beach 32960, Florida US
The Process Engineer/Senior Process Engineer will be a member of the Manufacturing Team. Initially the individual will support the Project as an Operations Representative in the detailed design phase in the contractor’s office. This role will temporarily report to the Plant Manager until the permanent supervisor, the Operations Manager, is hired.
Job Description
- Provide Process engineering expertise to improve the safety, quality, environmental performance, reliability, operability and efficiency/productivity of the Demonstration plant utilizing Advanced Bioethanol technology
- To make safety the number one priority and to pro-actively demonstrate safe behaviors and demand safe behaviors from everyone associated with the Project.
- To ensure that appropriate standards are met during design construction.
- To work closely with the Technology Team, Operations Team, Engineering contractor and Vendors to provide a safe and operable plant design meeting Project Management expectations.
- To support the process engineering development of the project to ensure the design meets the requirements of the Project Specification, HAZOP and safety cases.
- To support the Management of Change (MOC) activities to ensure integrity is maintained throughout the design development process as well as ongoing production operations.
- To support the commissioning and start-up activities and transition to the Process Engineering support role at the site once operational
- Develop, coordinate and direct all process engineering activities at the site once operational including interfaces with Licensing and Pilot plant personnel
- Provide process engineering technology transfer to the global licensing team and Fayetteville pilot operations.
- Keep abreast of complementary process technology developments that may be utilized in improving the Bio technology
- Provide process engineering support for future commercial projects
Responsibilities Accountabilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide process engineering input to the project development to ensure the as built design fully meets the design basis.
- Participating in cross-functional teams to optimize plant designs for cost effectiveness, reliability, operability and maintainability.
- Participating in Process Hazard Analysis studies (PHA)
- Participate in vendor selection and management meetings
- Located in engineering contractors office, provide process engineering link between Project Team, contractor, technology and local site teams
- Provide chemical engineering input to HAZOP study, own final HAZOP report and ensure all actions are included in the plant design.
- Owner of all Process related documents throughout the project lifetime.
- Develop the project MOC procedure and manage any subsequent change.
- Using a systems approach, define process systems for handover/commissioning sequence and input to planning and scheduling team.
- To support the commissioning activities.
- To represent the INPB Project in a respectful and positive manner at all times.
- To provide ongoing process engineering support for HSSE, reliability, equipment performance, plant optimization and cost performance at the facility once operational.
- Meet HSSE objectives and comply with all relevant laws and policies for Operations.
- Maintain, and adhere to engineering practices and guidelines required to achieve compliance with governmental laws and policies
- Provide process engineering support to the demonstration plant operations team for normal operations, quality assurance and plant modifications
- Assist in the preparation of operating and maintenance procedures and participate in Process and Equipment operations training for plant personnel
- Work with Operations and Bio Technical groups to develop appropriate computer control models, interfaces, key performance indicators and data acquisition profiles
- Devise, promote and implement process and logistics improvements, including developing and conducting trials of alternative feedstocks, process and equipment trials, and delivering appropriate risk mitigation for same.
- Deliver demonstration plant improvement projects, including management of local engineering contractors, as directed by Site management and the business.
- The Senior Process Engineer role would in addition manage all process engineering activities within the Operations Team.
Skills Knowledge Required
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous Operations experience in petrochemicals, refining or biofuels.
- Experience of chemical/process engineering design development for major petrochemical projects or experience of working on an operating unit.
- Strong safety and environmental performance
- Experienced process engineer.
- Strong ability to work with others.
- Strong communication and networking skills.
- An ability to manage work priorities to deliver real performance improvements in a busy and demanding work environment.
- Strong knowledge of safety and the pro-active application of new techniques to improve safety performance.
- Strong bias for action to identify potential problems and co-ordinate their resolution before they become an issue. Continual enthusiasm and a desire to assist the team improve performance.
- Detailed knowledge of design Codes and industry standards as applied to petrochemical facilities, Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change process, and Capital Value Process (CVP).
- Project engineering and/or experience leading projects is a plus
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are essential to perform this role.
Education and Experience:
The successful candidate should have a minimum of a BS degree in Chemical Engineering and at least 5 years of related experience in an operation/ project/design function. A candidate with at least 8 years of relevant experience may be considered for the role of Senior Chemical Engineer. Experience with the Operations of biofuels or petro-chemical plants is preferred. The preferred candidate will have held similar positions that interfaced with staff engineers, engineering contractors, craftsmen, operators, Management, vendor engineers, and sales representatives.
