Process Operator - Night Shift

Leading energy company has an opening for a contract Night Shift Biofuels Process Development Associate in San Diego, CA! Do you have great attention to detail want to be part of a great team? Schedule Wednesday-Saturday 10:00 pm-8:30 am The Biofuels Process Development Associate: Conducts fermentation experiments - Under general supervision carries out fermentation experiments, records data, maintenance/housekeeping and troubleshooting. - Read SOP (if not clear, discuss with a senior PDA/scientist). Update SOP based on discussion. - Prep various types of media: Add chemicals, Adjust to correct volume according to SOP. - Sterilize medium/solutions using autoclave. - Aseptically inoculate seed flasks and place into incubator shaker according to SOP. - Prepare bioreactor/tank for fermentation. - Calibrate probes according to SOPs. - Set up fermentation parameters and sterilize tanks according to SOP. - Set up tank-hook up all external feed bottles, adjust pH and bias, add necessary ingredients according to SOP, double check fermentation parameters. - Check the seed for contamination using the microscope. - Inoculate tank - transfer seed into inoculation bottle and add to tank aseptically, start fermentation process. - Sample fermentors according to SOP. - Adjust parameters/shot size according to SOP. - Induce fermentors. - Insure identified problems are communicated to Shift Supervisor and/or scientists. - Record data in SOP and on Nexxis - Document bioreactor/needed solutions prep, fermentation parameters, harvest labels - Gather all documents and print out trends, submit detailed shift reports. - Perform Pilot Plant housekeeping. Troubleshooting - Assist in fixing/adjusting equipment and program applications (control temperatures, pressure, pH, etc.). - Assist with scientific troubleshooting (organism problems, feeding, etc. using trend data to identify possible solutions). - Assist in training lower level technicians/PDAs. Other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor or Pilot Plant Operations Manager Biofuels Process Development Associate Skills Experience: - Beginner/entry level position with 0-3 years industry experience. - BS/BA Degree in life sciences or equivalent education and/or fermentation experience Important information : This position is recruited for by a remote Kelly office, not your local Kelly branch.
