IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:
- BS degree in Chemical Engineering. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree may be considered based on chemical process experience
- 8-10 years of process/minerals industrial plant project and process engineering experience (chemical preferred)
- 8-10 years experience in leadership role, preferably, with an Engineering Department and Power Process Operations
- Experience with multiple Capital Projects including management of outside engineers and contractors.
- Experience with engineering support of continuous improvements operational excellence
- Excellent communication, computer skills, problem solving and a leadership style that leads by example in a team environment
- Experience with Mechanical Evaporation Mining Process a plus
Summary
- The Production Process Leader / Engineering Manager will lead the facility teams that are responsible and accountable for the safe operation of the “wet end” of the plant (brine field, evaporators, boilers, etc.) in a manner that is both efficient and cost effective.
- The position also has overall responsibility for engineering activities for the site.
- This person serves as a member of the plant site leadership, leads the Engineering team and actively manages the capital program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads the Power and Process Operations and the site Engineering Department
- Ensures Environmental, Health and Safety performance and compliance.
- Responsible for achieving production targets: costs, quality, inventory, OE, RAM, quantity, timing, budgets, etc..
- Ensures operations and maintenance proactively work together to improve operations.
- Supports KPI development, measurement, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Insure the compilation of process baseline performance data, operating data, and KPIs.
- Develop and implement process improvement plans for areas of responsibility.
- Insure proper design and installation of capital projects in the Power and Processing areas. Identify and coordinate maintenance activities within the Power and Processing
- Develop appropriate written operation procedures for the Power and Processing area.
- Interacts daily with site engineers, site manager, contractors and plant personnel.
- Works with plant leaders, maintenance personnel and site manager to set priorities and provide/acquire engineering and construction resources to meet agreed project plans and schedules.
- The ability to identify and anticipate problems, extract information, and manage multiple capital projects at once is important.
- Maintains compliance with environmental health and safety policy in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Develops and maintains sound project management processes, tools and documentation, including engineering specifications, drawings, standards for bid processes and interaction with purchasing functions.
- Leads the engineering support of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Works with engineers on multiple capital projects ensuring that scope, schedule, technical correctness and budget goals are met.
- Assists in the accurate forecasting of cash flow and total capital spend for each project.
- Proactive communication with all levels of management.
- Develops, manages and mentors all Engineering and Power Process staff.
- Participate in succession planning activities.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
- 8-10 years of process/minerals industrial plant project and process engineering experience and equivalent experience in leadership role required.
- Effective problem solving techniques and leadership skills are required.
Computer Skills
· Computer proficiency with AutoCAD (management level) Microsoft Office, MS Project and CMMS systems and Project Process experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma preferred. Access and PowerPoint helpful.
