Procurement Expert

The role will require an exceptional candidate who will act as a relationship manager to key stakeholders cross businesses in London, with possible additional responsibility in core Europe, excluding Switzerland. The candidate will be responsible for engaging the business to determine needs, help shape strategy and future needs, and executing against these requirements, including leading the tendering and commercial negotiation with a wide range of legal service providers.

The candidate will also be engaged, on a part time basis, to aid in sourcing efforts associated with the build out of the new UBS building in London.

Requirements -

Experience of investment banking/financial organisations is desirable but not essential.

Experience in sizeable global organizations preferred

• Demonstrate highly developed relationship management skills and gravitas to operate at senior level. Develop excellent client relationships at senior levels.
• Proactively seek out and implement sourcing opportunities as well as understand and respond to client needs including establishing requirements, deliverables, priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to constructively challenge clients regarding their requirements and approach where appropriate and have the influencing skills to have an impact at senior levels.
• Communicate progress to clients and manage their expectations concerning delivery.

People.
• Ensure information is shared between team members while also demonstrating the ability to communicate concisely, convincingly and effectively to a wider global (client/peers) audience (especially upwards).
• Act as a self-reliant professional operating as part of a larger team. Required to be a self-starter and a team player, must feel comfortable creating their own profile and credibility.
• Able to carry though ideas to delivery and able to create and leverage a network.

Economic
• Generate creative ideas and challenge status quo, not constrained by past models.
• Ability to identify help others to balance risks benefits to protect the bank’s interests.
• Demonstrate a flexible approach and willingness to learn
• Ensure emphasis is on value to the business not just lowest costs, and that contracts remain flexible for future changes.
• Understanding of financial models

Functional/Technical
• Able ownership of the sourcing initiative through every stage to delivery.
• Strong services procurement background
• Apply specialist knowledge to identify potential Sourcing opportunities.
• Experienced commercial and legal negotiator including excellent contract drafting skills.
• Sound analysis (especially financially) of data and issues to develop workable solutions and business cases on a timely basis.
• Ensure that your own knowledge of best in class procurement practices marketplaces is demonstrated and continuously updated.
