About the Business 

Key's Corporate Procurement team is made up of approximately 50 professionals supporting over $1 billion in yearly third-party spend.  The team is organized to support defined lines of business while maintaining deep category expertise.  Corporate Procurement's mission is to reduce the total cost of ownership from third-party spend and support a global delivery/business model, while optimizing risk-reward with Key's third-party providers/partners.

About the Job 

The Category Lead is responsible for developing and driving strategies for multiple categories of spend.  The major Category of focus will be Consulting with secondary categories of HR and Legal.  Consulting category requires significant interaction with Senior Leaders at multiple levels across Key and the Partners and Managers with multiple consulting firms.  Category Lead will use market intelligence and Key specific insights to advise Key leaders on the selection of firms and the structuring of engagements.  Category specific goals drive spend effectiveness by balancing cost and quality, ensuring market forces drive decisions and manage risk. 

 

Using deep category expertise, a strong understanding of client needs and robust analytics, the Category Lead develops a procurement spend strategy that reflects the needs of multiple business units.  The Category Lead also has direct client management responsibility with business unit executives to drive spend effectiveness.

 

Essential Job Functions

 

Defines and drives strategies for multiple spend categories

·         Translates improvement objectives (efficiency, savings, etc.) into category strategies

·         Ensures category strategies are holistic with focus on supply, demand and process/policy solutions

·         Defines and drives sourcing methodology to execute strategies

 

Conducts sourcing events in support of spend categories

·         Develops and maintains market information on qualified supplier base

·         Identifies and suggests proper sourcing event to achieve desired outcome (RFx, direct negotiation, auction, etc).

·         Manages documentation/correspondence to suppliers

·         Conducts supplier negotiations

·         Coordinates and supports the contractual process

 

Drives major initiatives through the development of cross-functional category teams

·         Identifies internal customers and key stakeholders for inclusion in strategy development and execution

·         Works with internal customers to understand requirements, manage demand and resolve issues

·         Manages relationships with internal business partners and external vendors

·         Proactively consults with internal customers on third party spend opportunities

·         Acts as a liaison between line of business and supplier

·         Identifies opportunities and implements solutions for supplier improvement

 

Tracking and Reporting

·         Develops tracking and reporting mechanisms and determines supplier key performance indicators

·         Monitors compliance to category strategy

·         Supports formal management reporting to senior executives

System Management

·         Monitors portfolio of contracts to ensure proactive and timely management of contractual requirements

·         Ensures contract approval occurs in a timely manner

·         Regularly monitors spend data for proper vendor categorization and trend identification

 

Required Qualifications 

·         Bachelors degree, Masters degree in business related field preferred

·         5+ years business experience

·         2+ years of Procurement or Sourcing related experience preferred

·         2+ years experience at a Consulting or Accounting firm preferred

·         Demonstrated organizational and project management skills

·         Analytic skills and strong financial acumen

·         Ability to draw insights from analysis and then set strategy based on insights

·         Ability to handle multiple priorities, to work independently and as part of a team

·         Ability to draft and deliver effective presentations to senior leadership

·         Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
