Product Applications Senior/Staff Engineer - Enterprise SSD Product Line
From the Clouds to Ultrabooks, storage demand is booming. In this position you will be focused on the EC Business SSD
Product Line, provide technical leadership for customer requirements and issues
around solid state technologies and architectures during product development,
and qualification. This position will be the technical partner to the
Product Manager, Sales, Business Development and TCM teams. As the
technical partner, this role will provide expertise on customer engineering
capabilities, systems, technical requirements, and configuration requirements.
Responsible for input to Market Requirement documentation. Responsible for
identifying gaps between the MR and resultant Design Requirement. This position will report to the Director of Product Line Management.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan, execute, and
manage customer qualification issues resolution and technical deliverables -
focused on solid state features incremental to the base product design. - Identify new customer
technical requirements and drive into the product development and manufacturing
processes (CCSM/MR). - communicate critical
technical issues affecting customer qualification or field functionality. - Responsible for
setting product performance targets and assessing performance capabilities
during development. - Provide technical
white papers that describe and clarify drive related issues. - Coordinates and
manages technical requirements for test units with responsible Product Manager
Core Team Members. - Manage the technical
specification alignment process between customers and engineering. - Influence Seagate and
customer engineering direction and focus. - Identify and
capitalize technical opportunities to create or enhance customer dependency on
Seagate. - Assess, prioritize,
and communicate customer technical issues and requests in order to minimize
Engineering and Core Team engagements. - Anticipate customer
questions and reactions to technical issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Engineering degree required.
- 5+ years of experience in solid state technologies, applications and knowledge of Server, SAN and NAS architectures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAS, FC and SATA interface skills desired.
- Knowledge of application performance modeling as it
relates to disk IO activities. - Knowledge of HDD (or other hi-tech devices)
development and OEM qualification processes, from concept to production. - Experience
defining product specifications and negotiating with engineering and
customers, Project Management Skills with ability to set priorities and
track execution. - Successful candidate must be able to use lab tools
used in the debug of HDDs issues and have excellent verbal and written
communication.
