Product Control
Markets Portfolio Management Group (MPMG) comprises approximately 24 professionals, based in London, New York and Luxembourg. The business focuses on a client base of mainly financial institutions. Products are structures that enable the client to both invest and borrow funds. The Markets Portfolio Business Management (MPBM) team within MPMG is responsible for supporting the FICC Solutions Group and the Market Equities Group in setting up new structures/products and managing the existing portfolios ongoing requirements.
New structure set up involves working closely with the FICC Solutions Group and the Markets Equities Group to understand the details of the new deal and advise on the optimal way in which to set it up within the Firms infrastructure. This requires extensive liaison with the numerous support teams within the Finance, Credit, Regulatory and Operations groups to ensure the funding and infrastructure is in place for the deal inception date.
Ongoing deal support includes the daily management of funding requirements across the departments portfolio, rolling existing trades, managing collateral and hedging obligations. The team is also responsible for the ongoing improvement of controls and processes used to manage the business. This includes using technology to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
Main Duties:
Establishing oneself as a key player in a fast paced department through quickly gaining extensive knowledge of structures, being pro-active in dealing with issues and providing an excellent service to all front office teams
- Managing complex trades with multiple entities. Including arranging cash flows, updating models for interest rate re-sets, booking trades e.g. swaps, deposits, fixed income purchases and liaising with external counterparties with regards to trade information
- Carrying out Know Your Client (KYC) analysis on new legal entities, setting up trading products and limits under legal entities and counterparties, setting up bank accounts and custody accounts in local jurisdictions
- Prior to execution, work with the deal team to ensure that there are detailed cash flows and bookings spreadsheets for the MPBM, Markets Finance and Markets Middle Office teams.
- Taking on ad-hoc projects as required, including migration of spreadsheet based entities into the firm?s trading platform, system replacements and enhancements to trading systems? downstream feeds
- Review procedures to ensure that are up to date for processes
- Build good working relationship with the KYC and Business Banking teams. Review and update dispensations between Markets Portfolio Business Management and these teams every 6 months
· Build and maintain strong relationships with Markets Portfolio Finance, Middle office and settlements teams
***You must be a qualified at either ACA, CIMA or CFA to apply for this role, ideally 1yr + post qualified***
Essential qualifications - Minimum ABB at A-Level or equivalent. ACA, CIMA or CFA qualified with first time passes.
Essential Experience required - 1 yr post qualified with experience working within finance/product control or of a complex structured or derivatives business.
