Product Control Analysts – Oil Major, London recruitment

In this position you will work side-by-side with traders and influence the physical trading and shipping of oil products – particularly focussing on Middle and Heavy Distillates. Due to the speculative nature and high-risk trading activities being undertaken, Risk Control is an important aspect of our client – monitoring trade exposures, physical cargo exposure, PL, and all aspects of trading activity. As a senior role you may be mentoring junior staff, and you will also have the responsibility to improve procedures and take the business forward through revising the robust control environment. This role is a step to move into trading if desired, empowering the successful candidate with the knowledge and experience to take their career forward and progress within this well-known organisation, in an exciting and buoyant industry.

With previous experience working in a physical oil-trading organisation, successful candidates will have working knowledge of oil markets and oil products in particular. Risk, Product Control or Trading experience in the physical energy sector is a pre-requisite. You will have experience of PL monitoring and financial risk analysis. This therefore means that the ideal candidate will have excellent IT skills – with strong Excel and VBA modelling ability being essential. Good presentation skills, communication skills, and team working skills are all expected from the successful candidate who will be building working relationships across borders. Due to the highly analytical and mathematical nature of the role, applicants must hold a numerate degree in Finance, Maths, or Economics disciplines.

This opportunity presents a fantastic move within a very well respected energy giant. Working alongside traders there is a short step to promotion into a Front Office role, other areas of Risk, Middle Office, Management or other opportunities. The salary for this role is dependent on experience plus bonus, and benefits.
