Full Job Description

Job Purpose
- Financial reporting responsibilities for monthly, quarterly and annual IAS compliant returns and monthly management information packs.
- Control and analysis of market related risk under management (from Treasury systems)
- Financial reporting and control function, ensuring controls are maintained and information reported is accurate and timely.
- Acting as a lead in managing the daily Risk Reporting for multi currency portfolios comprising a variety of financial products including: interest rate swaps, cross currency swaps, loans, deposits, interest rate options, equity options and forward rate agreements.
Key Accountabilities
Managing the daily risk reporting of the sterling and currency portfolios - - Responsible for reviewing daily risk or delta positions of a portfolio of £100 billion including investigating and resolving problems with the dealing desk on a timely basis.
- Responsible for reconciling and preparing analytical review of both daily accrual and mark to market PL, validating and explaining to any movements to the management team on a timely basis.
- Understand the methodology and calculation of the component parts of the daily mark to market PL. This is used by the dealing desk to analyse and understand movements in their portfolio and interest rate affects.

Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Thorough knowledge of the complex financial instruments and structures used by Treasury and the Bank to manage and hedge risk.
- An understanding of the flows and risks that Treasury receives and manages from the various business units.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of the systems used by Treasury as well as risk analytics procedures.
- An understanding of processes and impacts of other Treasury operations (e.g. settlements, liquidity management, funding, Large Exposure Reporting, and Capital Planning).
- Knowledge of Accounting Statements and Procedures (both Group and Regulatory) and their impact for the Bank (e.g. IAS 39).
- Good understanding of the workings of a multi-currency general ledger (e.g SAP) and the revaluation thereof.
- A comprehensive knowledge of financial instruments - mechanics of their operation, complex valuation calculations and in what situations these will be used - ideally practical rather than only theoretical.
- A detailed knowledge of mark to market, deltas and accruals, including how the various components are calculated - ideally practical rather than only theoretical.
- Advanced knowledge of PC applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
