Department Overview

The Finance department covers Product and Financial control. Both Product and Financial Control are jointly responsible for the integrity of the financial records of Barclays Capital. Credit Trading Product Control is one of the functions within Product control.

The function sits between Front Office and the other support areas and has an emphasis on the trade date Control environment, Front Office support and analysis of PL and risk. Consequently, the function is a main point of contact for many issues that affect the bank. This requires a close working relationship with the Front Office and other support areas.

The core responsibilities of the team are to ensure timely and accurate reporting of daily risk and PL including verification of risk and PL through the PL risk based attribution process. Ownership and reconciliation of the reported PL and Balance Sheet substantiation to the firms reported financials.

Main Function

The function sits within the Infrastructure group rolling up to the CFO office with an emphasis on the trade date Control environment, Front Office support and analysis of PL, Balance Sheet and Risk. Consequently, the function is a main point of contact for many issues that affect the bank. This requires a close working relationship with the Front Office and other infrastructure areas.

The core responsibilities of the team are to ensure timely and accurate reporting of daily PL including verification of risk and PL through the PL attribution process. Additional responsibilities include ownership and reconciliation of the PL, month end Balance Sheet substantiation, Commentary, and ad hoc projects.
