Position Description:
AGS on behalf of RBS represents contract and temporary opportunities for RBS MIB (Markets and International Banking). We have an outstanding contract opportunity for a Product Controller to make their mark with one of the world's largest international banking and financial services companies. In the role you will play an integral role in helping our client deliver market leading services that set it apart from its competitors.
The team is responsible for enacting and reporting on key controls over the daily and monthly ledger close processes. The team is also a business partner to the desk and works with other BUC/non-BUC teams to support change projects. Responsibilities will include:
Processes
- Responsible for production and submission of daily flash PL including a review of held-over and failed trades.
- Responsible for review of BEP errors and ensuring corrective action is taken where appropriate.
- Responsible for co-ordinating effective liaison with Source System Reconciliation teams in India and Singapore and ensuring that all breaks are understood and adjusted for where necessary.
- Responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of static data for the EM business.
- Responsible for co-ordinating liaison with ledger control and the nostro reconciliation teams to ensure that nostro breaks are investigated and cleared in a timely manner.
- Responsible for reviewing, documenting and explaining significant PL arising from new trades, restructures and unwinds.
- Responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of PL reporting including flash to actual analysis, PL attribution and explain and daily/monthly PL commentary. SOLO (RBS MI System) Daily PL numbers to be signed-off by the internal deadlines.
- Responsible for ensuring SOLO numbers are complete and in line with the ledger on a daily basis.
- Responsible for ensuring PLs are signed off by the desk on T+1, otherwise ensure escalation procedures are followed in accordance with MBUC policy.
- Responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of all other reports produced and distributed by the PL team. This includes FX Position Reporting, Back Testing, SOLO Submission and Sales Reporting.
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all manual adjustments posted by the PL team (e.g. Brokerage accruals, Intercompany Fees, Transfer Pricing). Accuracy is needed for balance sheet substantiation.
- Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of JV agreements involving the EM business.
- Responsible for delivering Month-end PL and SOLO sign-off by WD5.
Strategy Change
- Responding to the voice of the customer in ensuring all key deliverables are required and fit for purpose, and are adapted on a timely basis in line with the dynamic environment of the EM business.
- Ensuring the EM PL team is operating to LEAN principles; challenging processes and methods within the team and in doing so provide control enhancements and efficiency gains.
- Assist in the delivery of change initiatives, providing subject matter expertise where required.
- Responsible for daily participation at the Huddle and using Huddle as a forum to raise issues and share ideas
- Responsible for ensuring that operational controls are operating effectively, including up-to-date process notes, EUDA controls business continuity planning, and effective review and assurance.
- Responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of key controls over the daily and monthly ledger close, and appropriate reporting (KPIs/KRIs) and escalation of issues to provide assurance to BUC management that controls are operating effectively.
- Responsible for ensuring that PL controls are accurately documented and understood.
- Timely escalation and management of risk issues relevant to the PL team to line manager for risk assessment
- Assisting with the new product approval process within Emerging Markets, to include NPRA, STARs and SPARKS, ensuring timely response to queries.
People
- Co-ordinating liaison with Internal and External audit in assisting with their assurance work.
- Responding to ad-hoc information requests for the EM business and senior BUC management where appropriate.

Skills/experience required
- Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant is desirable.
- Strong Product Control background, good P L experience across varied products
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong people, process/communication skills.
- Familiarity of accounting for financial products and understanding linkage to revenue and external reporting requirements.
- Good product knowledge - Ideally FX, Credit, Rates, emerging markets
- Strong spreadsheet skills
- Ideally experience of IPV and Reserving.
