Product Defintion Manager, Transmissions

The Transmission System Product Definition Manager is responsible for the technical leadership and resource management of the Rolls-Royce Corporation Transmission System Design group. The members of this group consist of Structural Analysts, Mechanical Designers and CAD Modelers. This role is responsible for the mechanical design and associated analyses of civil and military transmission system components. This role is also responsible for defining rules, tools, methods and guidelines specific to design analyses and integrates with other global Rolls-Royce sites as needed. Key Responsibilities: Completion of technical work package to meet Customer Facing Business Unit (CFBU) and/or operations requirements Accountable for the technical quality of all transmission system design work. Balances available resources (direct, contract, outsourcing, etc.) to complete required tasks and commits to application of resources and task completion dates Approves work scope and resource estimates Reviews and approves design definition including models, drawings, and technical reports Reviews test data and provides assessment of data with regard to design requirements Supports dispositions and other production and development support needs Provides support for proposals including technical input, cost, schedules, and manpower quotes Participates in process and skill set councils as required Provides technical support and guidance for engineers Provides career planning guidance and professional development for employees through regular reviews and the performance development review process Provides input for merit planning, promotions and special recognition awards Works with the Transmissions, Structures and Drives (TSD) Research and Technology capability owner in the annual review, ranking, presentation, and management of transmission system Technology Selection Team bids, including delivery of detail and global milestones Rolls-Royce has a broad customer base comprising 600 airlines, 4,000 corporate and utility aircraft and helicopter operators, 160 armed forces, more than 2,000 marine customers including 70 navies, and energy customers in 120 countries.
