Product Design Engineer- Premier Luxury Custom Window Systems

We are one of the nation's premier custom and luxury fenestration manufacturing companies and we are seeking a Product Design Engineer. The primary focus of this role is to develop new product designs and enhancements of existing products working with various materials such as aluminum, wood, plastic, vinyl, steel and glass. The ideal candidate would be an innovative thinker with vision and passion for contemporary design and unsurpassed quality.
What you need for this position:
- Minimum B.S. in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
- Minimum 2 years' experience in fenestration design and construction, ideally aluminum products with focus on Custom and Luxury applications
- Must be proficient with Auto CAD, and Microsoft Office programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to understand an architect’s input and evaluate its technical feasibility
- Experience with window installation procedures and code requirements
- Experience in testing and certification of fenestration products would be a major plus but not a requirement
-Experience in project management from shop drawings to installation would be a bonus!
- Occasional travel
What you'll be doing:
- Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
- Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment
- Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results
- Designs, develops and tests /or sources various new products, tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
- Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency
- Assist in representing manufacturing on cross-functional teams
- Responsible for ensuring that product design issues are not compromised in the manufacturing process.
- Develop performance metrics to capture manufacturing activities
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and planning team members to ensure that all aspects of the products being manufactured have been adequately addressed
- Travel to various dealer facilities to facilitate appropriate communication of product enhancements and identify any quality or design challenges.
