Senior Product Designer

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Initial brief is taken from the Drawing Office Manager and Project Managers.

• Interpret surveys, schedules and other contractor's drawings to develop furniture and joinery drawings co-ordinated with related site structures, trades, hard ware and specialist items.

• Resolve technical detail, remove ambiguity and produce working drawings and specifications in accordance with company standards for client presentation, manufacture and site installation.

• Generate a range of innovative solutions to design engineering problems, involving new approaches and insights.

• Material purchase specifications are to be created for each job and submitted to the purchasing department in readiness for manufacture and installation.

• Quantify challenges by analysing sources of information and make supported judgements to produce workable solutions.

• Build maintain knowledge of relevant product areas and new technology by sharing expertise and driving professional development.

• Exceed expectations for time and specification deliverables to the Project Manager.

• Consistently meets and exceeds project goals while achieving a high standard for quality and productivity

Qualifications and Experience

• A high grade degree (BA or BSc) in a discipline relevant to design engineering, or equivalent.

• Must have worked in a furniture and joinery environment.

• Must demonstrate familiarity with the complete design process including scale, proportion, and ergonomics.

• Proficient in SolidWorks, generally very IT literate with working knowledge of Excel, word and Outlook.

• Integrating specialist materials such as metalwork, leather etc. into the construction of furniture.
