JOB SUMMARY
As the liaison to assigned vendor base, the Product Developer is responsible to drive the product development and sourcing process to meet design vision, merchant requirements and company financial goals. Must work closely with merchandising staff to drive cost efficiency and price confirmation. Assist when necessary in setting target costs and influence margin levels. Ensure that factories and agents consistently achieve quality, price, and delivery guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Partner with cross-functional teams: Inventory, Design, Merchandising Technical Design to cost engineer the product to include sourcing, fabric development and product development.
- Acutely understand costing breakdown and global component comparisons.
- Act as a liaison with merchandising development of seasonal lines within the vendor pool.
- Assist Sourcing identifying and resolving quality related issues
- Responsible for timeliness of development components in accordance of calendar.
- Creatively problem-solve with suppliers when production/relationship issues arise.
- Responsible for maintaining production Work In Process and all cost sheets.
- Additional responsibilities as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years in sourcing, negotiation, product development and production of apparel preferable
- A bachelor's degree in international studies, textiles and/or business is preferred.
- Outstanding organizational, analytical, data integration and an ability to manage several projects at once.
- Skill set to communicate with various departments covering all aspects of apparel.
- Have strong problem solving and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
