Full Job Description

Responsibilities can be broken down into the following categories:
New cases

- To act as case underwriter on new cases. (especially those which are large, complex etc)
- Preparing (and presenting where appropriate) case and recommendations for [Executive], Board(s) and reinsurance partners as required by underwriting licence etc
- Representing the business in negotiating terms etc on such cases externally, meeting clients, brokers, counsel etc
- To sign off referrals above the limits of other team members in accordance with underwriting matrix
- To assist in the maintenance and further development of an active pipeline of quality cases and law firms in our target market space(s).

Existing cases

- To be responsible for the management of specified large cases, ensuring that we know their present position and likely timescales for developments.
- To report to Board(s), reinsurers etc on the cases
- Where cases are not performing in accordance with expectations, to review, recommend steps to take and follow through agreed actions with solicitor etc.
- To provide technical direction on difficult issues to the Underwriting team
- To handle and-or advise on losses which are material due to their size or because of issues around them such as voidance, solicitor conduct etc

Product Development and Technical Standards

- To work on an ongoing basis to refine the ATE `foo

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in Legal Expenses Insurance. You will be fully aware of the "ATE" sector, the recent changes and challenges brought by government legislation, and be in a position whereby you should be pushing those above you for senior management promotion and responsibility. You maybe well be legally qualified, and could potentially be coming from a professional indemnity Insurance background.

£70,000 - £80,000.

Where specific UK qualifications are required we will take into account overseas equivalents.
