To support this continued growth, we are expanding our technical center and hiring a Model Shop Supervisor. 
 
POSITION SUMMARY
 
This is a high energy, results driven position managing a Model Shop with time critical product. This person will work closely with the Product Development and Applications Engineers, who are the customers of the Model Shop, to ensure that their requests are clear, do-able in time, cost and material facets. 
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 
Is responsible for make/buy decisions pertaining to where Model Shop work is executed.  
 
Coordinates with testing to ensure that work request parts are delivered in time, and schedules are met to defined timeline.
 
Coordinates with program management to ensure sample deliveries are scheduled properly and deliveries meet or exceed the customer's expectation.
 
Responsible for the development and operation of the engineering work request system.
 
Manages growth of the Model Shop such that it is prepared for the volumes forecast.
 
Hires, supervises and directs the Model Shop staff, hourly and salaried.
                
Manages the departmental budget
 
Organizes work request input and analysis to ascertain the path of components required for the order. 
 
Manages the delivery of castings and components for Applications, IDS, and Product Development. 
 
Ensures said parts arrive in a timely, cost-effective manner for samples and test hardware
 
Assists in the programming parts and assemblies through the Lab and Model Shop such that work requests can be completed on time.
 
Works with Design to ensure that appropriate drawings can be delivered to vendors in a timely manner. 
 
Assists Engineers, and Purchasing, in the selection of new vendors for new parts, where necessary. 
 
Supports Manufacturing in troubleshooting problems and communication of best practices
 
Purchases new equipment for the Model Shop to meet business needs. 
 
Defines and Develops new processes and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency
 
Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies. 
 
Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies. 
 
Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
 
This position requires a Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Management related field, prefer Bachelors.
 
Must have ability to interface with Project and Product Development Engineers on technical issues.
 
Has the ability to coordinate and schedule parts in an orderly process. 
 
Proven leadership skills are a must. 
 
This position requires five years of experience in the manufacturing of turbo (or turbo-like) components, particularly experience with compressor wheel, turbine wheel, compressor cover, turbine housing and bearing housing engineering. 
 
The qualified candidate must posses a strong understanding of the workings of turbochargers and turbo components, welding processes, and CNC programming.
 
Must understand how to run a mill and lathe. 
 
Must have the knowledge to piece and fabricate components together to form other components.
 
Ability to write requirements for computer programs use database and spreadsheet programs (Excel, Access, Paradox). 
 
Must have experience in logistics and growth of a rapidly expanding organization.
