Product Director – Private Client Tax/Trusts recruitment
This role sits within an area of the business that specifially focused on the development, sourcing and and implementation of standard and complex structured solutions for its HNW UHNW Clients with a focus on Products within the Tax Trusts arena.
Core accountabilities
Conversion of ideas into executable products:
- Play a key role in the selection of initial ideas for development into products which are capable of execution in the current market. Gain a thorough understanding of current execution capabilities and limitations within the business. Lead relationships with other teams in the sales and administration areas, with other product areas and with key Infrastructure areas, for example Finance, Tax, Legal, Credit, Operations and Compliance.
Support approvals process:
- Own all sections of approvals papers and ensure quality control of materials submitted to approvals committees New product sign off. Liaise with infrastructure teams and other business areas where necessary to ensure smooth approvals process for new transactions.
On-going Product ownership responsibilities:
- Fulfil the role of key point person in respect of specific products. This brings with it responsibility for the product generally for example: ensuring the integrity of the product through its life, supporting the sales and admin teams where appropriate (e.g. presenting to and training sales teams, reviewing sales collateral or basic product documentation).
Supervisory responsibilities
- Product Team members will be required to co-ordinate with members of other divisional teams at different stages through a product’s life cycle. In time, a Product Team member may have other members of the Product Team reporting to them.
Key clients (internal and external)
- The key clients for this role are the Private Bankers and Wealth Advisers, who market Tax/Turst products to clients. However, on occasion, the role may involve direct work with external clients and their advisers. A flexible and enthusiastic approach to involvement in such direct work would be helpful.
Professional/technical experience
- Experience of executing and implementing solutions and transactions, obtained within a financial institution, law firm or professional services firm essential. High level of tax/trusts knowledge essential, and experience in the private client space is highly desirable. An ability to apply technical ability laterally to identify and mitigate risks is critical. Experience of tax and trust regimes beyond the UK would be an advantage. Ability to build Excel cashflow models desirable. Solid experience and understanding of financial markets, financial products and banking helpful. Although candidates from outside the Wealth Management sphere will be considered, a strong desire to forge a long term career within the sector is critical.
Academic and professional qualifications
- Degree-level qualification required. Professional qualification (chartered accountant or qualified solicitor) expected, though other qualification routes will be considered if accompanied by strong relevant experience.
