Role: Product Engineer
Location: MI
Design and develop steering column assemblies, intermediate shafts and joints to meet customer
requirements. Ensure that nianufacturability input from supplier and internal processes are considered
during the design process. Supports cost containment and reduction initiatives. Supports design issues
for customers, internal rrlanufaeturing, and suppliers. Fully supports the APQP process. Provides
promotional opportunity for personnel who demonstrate competency in the Product Engineer-C position.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES À
1. Analyze design inputs (customer, suppliers) to determine feasibiìity for intended application.
2. Understand and apply appropriate customer, internal, federal and industrial standards to designs.
3. Work to gain understanding of in-house, suppiier, and customer manufacturing processes to insure
designs are compatible with these processes.
4. Prepare design specifications for each application.
5. Conduct design reviews during product development (customer, internal, supplier).
6. Issue appropriate design documents to support program development (APQP) activities.
7. Issue product prints and design changes as appropriate.
8. Coordinate required development, sample builds and validation testing of design.
9. Provide design support to customers, suppliers, and inhouse departments.
10. Provide VEIVA ideas to support cost targets.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- This job requires a minimum of a Bacheloŕs Degree in a related ñeld and 2 to 4 years of positionre1ate
