Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Develop robust technical solutions from concept through production
Conduct appropriate engineering analysis and select materials
Work with designers to develop high quality drawings
Perform tolerance stack-ups on new design and product changes
Set direction with vendors and tool room to build prototypes
Work with layout inspector to verify prototypes; meet design intent
Write test reports to include conclusions and recommendations
Establish test criteria for design validation and knowledge building sub-system test
Maintain Open issues list during development; supervise running of test
Prepare engineering documentation including but not limited to DFEMA, DVPR, drawings and design assumptions
Formally release all product requirements into the Webasto change management system
Conduct design reviews internally and with customers
Establish production feasibility of designs working with vendors, engineers, and plant colleagues
Generate and follow-up on cost reductions
Communicate with other engineers to help develop product strategy for standardization
Authority
To determine the definition of WRS products through the issuance of product drawings and specifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
2-4 years product engineering on mechanical assemblies experience required
2-years working with automotive customers
Knowledge of customer specifications and competitive technical solutions
Computer literate
Ability to establish drawing datums using GDT
Excellent verbal, technical writing, interpersonal and organizational skills required
Knowledgeable of 8D, CAD, DOE, GDT, DFMEA, ECM, Robust Design, and PTS required but will trained
Work generally performed in an office environment with minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions
