Product Engineer Job in Manchester M11ED, North West UK

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the role is responsible for the development and maintenance of product ranges ensuring industry standards and customer requirements are adhered to.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Responsible for generating continuous improvement and cost reduction of assigned product lines
- Responsible for the engineering database (specifications, drawings, procedures) for assigned product lines
- Consults with and coordinates the engineering effort with customers, Marketing, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance/Quality Control
- Investigates and resolve NCRs and complaints from internal departments, customers and vendors
- Organises product technical trainings and seminars
- Develops engineering specifications for customer special valves
- Oversees the design and drafting in product development, and ensures layouts, drawings and documentation are prepared in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations
- Generates procedures for product testing, repair and maintenance, cleaning, packaging, etc.
- Performs product testing to establish and validate product performance to specifications
- Performs competitive analysis and maintains industry leadership of assigned product lines
- Maintains a working knowledge of all Codes and Standards applicable to the assigned product lines. Reviews Code addenda and documents changes affecting company products
- May perform other special duties or projects as requested by Product Engineering Manager.
Experience:
- Formal Mechanical Engineering qualification
- Experience in Autodesk Inventor or Equivalent CAD Package
- Working knowledge of mechanical engineering practices, standards/specs, computers, engineering software, planning, communication, presentation, facilitation, and analytical skills
- Preferably have experience in mechanical design, pumps, valves and actuators. Demonstrated strengths in fluid dynamics; knowledge and experience in fluid flow
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably a metal cutting environment, with knowledge of machining methodologies and practices

- Ability to work in a diverse team environment including decentralised engineering teams on an international basis Candidate should be results oriented with good project management, organizational, prioritization, and team-based skills
- Ability to be creative and innovative, and to meet customer requirements in cost effective ways

- Able to quickly change priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills. Must possess a pro-active, methodical and logical approach in problem solving
