Republic Doors Frames, a premier manufacturer of commercial hollow metal doors and frames located in McKenzie, TN, is seeking an individual to join our organization in a Design Engineer role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Interpret customer drawings, specifications and certification standards in determining product requirements, while providing sales staff with technical support involving industry standards, production capabilities, and material requirements.
· Provide complete technical assessment in preparing take-offs, estimates, quotes and submittals to Customers and Sales for completion of quotation. Must be able to clearly convey all issues, lead times, and costs.
· Utilize extensive knowledge of Republic Doors Frames product applications and manufacturing capabilities to recommend and engineer appropriate products for requirements. Communicate design concerns, drawing errors, interpretation issues, and manufacturability enhancements to customer technical contacts as necessary. Determine if further clarification and/or documents are required from the customer.
· Perform technical assessment for each order to determine component requirements, level of manufacturing data required (e.g. Manufacturing instructions, dimensions, data, jigs, fixtures)
· Utilize proficiency in computer-aided-drafting to communicate product features, to facilitate CIM (computer-integrated manufacturing), develop product design concepts and all necessary CAD drawings to satisfy fabrication, assembly, machine programming and communication requirements.
· Communicate externally with Distributors and Sales personnel to clarify questions and provide responses to technical inquiries, quotations and sales orders.
· Communicate internally with manufacturing and planning personnel to insure design for manufacturability and procurement of materials to communicate/request information necessary in order to complete order process.
Our ideal candidate will have at a minimum:
· BS in Engineering Graphics Design.
· Appropriate computer skills including AutoCAD proficiency.
· Ability to work and communicate effectively.
· Strong organizational and planning skills.
