Titanium Plate Metallurgist

Requirements:
- Qualified Candidates must possess a minimum of a BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science or Chemical Engineering
- Excellent analytical and communications skills required.
- Candidate must possess strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- Candidate will work with cross functional teams and individuals at all levels of a manufacturing organization.
- Prior experience with Titanium and/or Titanium Alloys, specifically experience with rolling and forging practices, is strongly desired. A familiarity with AMS and ASTM specifications, experience with Statistical Analysis, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles would be considered a plus. Working knowledge of Oracle based applications would also be considered a plus.
Successful candidate will be the technical lead within the Titanium Specialty Plate team and cover all product lines – Titanium 6/4 Alloy Plate, Commercially Pure Titanium Plate Grades, and all Ballistic Titanium Grades.
Responsibilities / Duties will include:
- Review of order inquiries to assess ability to meet proposed requirements. Issuing/assigning proper routing to meet order requirements. Will work directly with the planning and sales groups.
- Review and approval of new material certifications for all Titanium related products. Will work directly with the quality group.
- Will be directly involved in the disposition of non-conforming product.
- Review of production data/documents to monitor trends and (1) identify areas for improvement and (2) develop product /process trials to achieve those results.
- Work directly with Quality and Sales group in addressing external customer complaints and responding and to Cause Corrective Actions.
- Will take the lead in developing upcoming product qualification plans/trials. Will work directly with the commercial and quality groups.
- Will work with quality to develop/update Customer Fixed Practice Agreements and internal mill instructions and procedures.
- Will have responsibility for tracking material testing and coordinating disposition of test failures and ordering re-tests.
