Product Manager – K
Job Description:
The Product Manager will lead development and management of Wireless Generation products that enable K-12 educators to conduct formative assessments and analyze student performance data to inform instruction. In this role, the Product Manager will have responsibility for managing the lifecycle of the product and will provide leadership, develop the vision and set the long-term direction for the product. The Product Manager will work across various departments at Wireless Generation and the broader formative assessment product management team to understand customer needs and inform the building and maintenance of innovative products in the K-12 formative assessment space.
Responsibilities of Product Manager - K-12 Formative Assessment:
Manages products from concept to retirement, including strategy, planning, product design, development, launch, marketing, production, enhancements, and retirement.
- Thought Leadership - Acts as a Wireless Generation subject matter expert in relevant product domains.
- Strategy - Develops product strategy based on a deep understanding of market and competitive landscape.
- Planning - Maintain the product roadmap and priorities for future development based on market opportunities and customers needs, with an emphasis on creating sustainable competitive advantage.
- Sales - Works with sales and marketing to develop appropriate sales positioning and approach; supports sales efforts on major accounts.
- Marketing - Work with marketing partners to develop marketing strategy, product positioning and marketing plans; supports execution of marketing and communications plan.
- Product design and Development - Sets the vision for the product and supports a cross-functional product team to ensure high quality deliverables that achieve that vision.
- Product Service Delivery - Acts as leader of a cross-departmental product launch team and supports training and information dissemination to service delivery.
- Commitment to Quality - Develops Wireless Generation position on factors critical to the successful adoption and use of formative assessment products.
Requirements of Product Manager - K-12 Formative Assessment:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated success in a product development and/or product management role.
- Ability to communicate with a variety of constituencies, possess strong executive level communications, and the ability to speak in public and create and deliver presentations.
- Proven experience leading in a matrix organization with the ability to develop strategic plans and provide supporting evidence for those plans.
- Demonstrated interest in education and product development
- Willingness to travel 1 – 2 times per month.
Requirements of Product Manager - K-12 Formative Assessment:
- Experience in the development, management, marketing, implementation and use of assessment products preferred.
- Experience and understanding of assessment development and field testing methods preferred
- Experience with sound vendor management practices preferred.
- Familiarity with the Pragmatic Marketing Framework™ preferred.
- Familiarity with Agile SCRUM software development methodology preferred.
