Product Development
The Product Manager will oversee all functions pertaining to the creation of new products with the overall goal of ensuring that the products are successfully designed, priced, positioned, launched, promoted and supported in a way that will generate sales and lead to increased and profitable assets under management for the Pan Asia wholesale business.
The Product Manager is to analyze ideas for new investment strategies and potential products generated by the investment and wholesale distribution areas and provide supported opinions regarding success potential and overall positioning within the industry and the framework of existing UBS product strategies. In addition to crystallizing product ideas that are generated from other areas, the Product Manager is also expected to incubate ideas.
The Product Manager oversees the complete product development process from idea to launch and works closely with investment capability manager, product sponsor, fund administrator and other relevant functions to identify and address all issues that must be resolved before a successful product launch can occur. The Product Manager must also help to ensure that products being developed will leverage and complement UBS global resources and strategies whenever possible. Prior to product launch, the Product Manager is a proactive resource to other areas of the organization in order to educate and train them on product attributes, positioning and competitive environment.
Product Management
The Product Manager is also responsible to maintain existing products sponsored by Pan Asia and resolve any post-launch issues. The Product Manager must maintain communication with investments and distribution to ensure the continued viability of the products and to monitor the need for adjustments in current strategies. The Product Manager will recommend and drive any necessary changes (including fund repositionings, mergers, or closures) to improve the quality and competitiveness of UBS product range.
Competitive Analysis
The Product Manager is expected to stay abreast of the competitive landscape and industry trends in order to help the investment and sales areas position products properly in conjunction with their ongoing strategies. The Product Manager will undertake fund-specific as well as firm-level competitive analyses to support marketing activities and overall product strategy formulation..
Local Fund Registration
The Product Manager will project manage local registrations of existing offshore UBS products in close coordination with distribution and local Legal and Compliance.
Our ideal candidate should have the following requisites:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Product Development and Management with strong focus on Asia wholesale business
- Knowledge across a broad spectrum of investment capabilities including equity, fixed income, multi-asset and structured products
- Familiar with the general legal and regulatory framework for public and private placement fund vehicles (onshore and offshore)
- Good knowledge of investment operation, fund administration and fund accounting processes and requirements
- Project management experience essential
