Macquarie Funds Group (MFG) is Macquarie Group's funds management business. MFG is a full-service asset manager, offering a diverse range of capabilities and products including infrastructure and real asset management, securities investment management and structured access to funds, equity-based products and alternative assets. The group had $A324 billion in assets under management as at 30 September 2011.
MFG has been managing assets for pension funds, institutions and retail investors since 1980 in Australia and 1929 in the US (through Delaware Investments). MFG has global reach, with a team of approximately 1,600 staff in Australia, Asia, the UK, Europe and the US, including US-based subsidiary Delaware Investments.
Macquarie Investment Management, a division of Macquarie Funds Group, is seeking a new Product Manager to join the Fixed Income Currency ('MFIC') team. This is a growing and highly profitable business. It manages around AUD$30 billion in a diverse range of investment strategies and asset classes including:
- Credit
- Domestic and global fixed interest
- Passive and dynamic hedging, and active currency
- Cash; and
- Diversified strategies.
As a result of an internal transfer an opportunity exists for a new Product Manager to join this high performing international business. This role is suited to either a product management or an investment specialist role, particularly in fixed income.
The role may also suit candidates who are currently in an entry level role as an investment research analyst or consultant at a research or asset consulting firm. We are also interested in receiving applications from operational backgrounds.
You responsibilities will include:
- Investment writing:
- Producing and contributing to written communications for various uses including investment publications, monthly researcher and consultant newsletters, media communications, and other ad hoc communication;
- Responsibility for RFPs, questionnaires, and co-ordinating responses from MFIC to external stakeholders;
- Developing and maintaining a range of presentations for use with existing clients and prospects; and
- Monthly quarterly fund performance reporting;
- Client service prospects:
- Working closely with the Portfolio Management team to produce investment presentations and investment market updates for a range of clients and prospects;
- Assisting the institutional and retail sales teams with the production of sales materials; and
- Handling a range of queries from clients and prospects.
- Business support:
- Monitoring and reporting on developments with competitors and asset class trends;
- Providing various data (FUM, revenue, attribution, etc) on MFIC product(and the business overall) to internal stakeholders;
- Supporting the other product managers (can include competitor analysis, product changes, product development, implementation of projects etc...)
- Marketing:
- Developing and enhancing MFIC's relations with asset consultants, researchers, platforms and financial planners;
- Creating and reviewing MFIC's marketing literature to ensure it is accurate and positioned appropriately to grow the business; and
- Working closely with internal stakeholders in order to deliver outcomes in a timely fashion.
The successful candidates will have:
- Five years experience in the funds management industry and would like to work in a front office environment. A good understanding of financial markets especially in fixed income;
- Outstanding written skills and the ability to tailor this to different audiences;
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft applications particularly powerpoint;
- A strong level of drive, commitment, and dedication;
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task;
- A commitment to providing outstanding client service and responding to the needs of our clients; and
- The ability to develop strong relationships across the business.
