Product Manager
Product Manager Responsibilities;
The Product Manager will be required to:
- Work with customers to understand customer problems and workflows, and use this information to prioritise market-wide requirements.
- Be or become an expert on the relevant business domains.
- Understand the competitive environment.
- Develop the core positioning and messaging for the business solutions.
- Understand the product technically, with an ability to configure demos.
- Act as a strategic pre-sales resource, including performing product demos to customers and prospects.
- Provide internal training both for others.
- Work with marcomms to develop sales tools and collateral; help plan and attend industry events.
- Work with development, professional services, QA and support teams to ensure that business solutions are delivered to plan and customers are satisfied.
- Plan product deliveries, including documenting detailed requirements, planning releases, and maintaining roadmaps.
- Produce and deliver other documents as required, including product descriptions, customer presentations, etc; where relevant, work with technical writing to ensure delivery of user guides, release notes, etc.
Product Manager Key Skills
Experience
The Product Manager will ideally around 1-3 years of product management experience, or alternatively a solid background in pre-sales/ technical consultancy/ project management, all gained at a financial software vendor or similar company.
Domain Knowledge
The Product Manager will have the following Domain Knowledge:
- Demonstrable financial domain knowledge: post-trade processes for multiple asset classes, familiarity with middle- and back-office processes at investment banks, buy-side firms, and prime brokers/custodians. Currently our clients solutions cover mainly equity, fixed income and equity swaps; these will expand to futures, and potentially and other asset classes.
- Technical background, with preference to those with some development experience and demonstrable broad technical knowledge. At least a basic familiarity with SQL.
- Knowledge of financial messaging (SWIFT, FIX, FpML).
Process knowledge
The Product Manager will have the following Process Knowledge:
- Understanding of the application development lifecycle and related methodologies (waterfall, agile, etc.) as well as product lifecycle management.
- Understanding of sales processes.
- Familiarity with tools relevant to the above – e.g. hands on use of systems for requirements gathering and bug tracking, documentation tools, CRM systems, etc.
