Job Description
Manages the development and implementation of the strategic marketing plan for one or more specific products in a market area within a business unit. Having excellent understanding of the market and customer dynamics, will develop primary product positioning, pricing strategies, product commercialization and launch strategies; market research and product obsolescence planning; ensures products are leveraged based on opportunity; initiates and analyzes market research; and participates as a team member in planning new products.
Responsibilities
- Manages the development and implementation of the sales and marketing plan for the Genomic Services business.
- Develops and implements strategies/ tactics to achieve worldwide revenue and profitability goals.
- Develops and implements primary positioning, commercialization, pricing strategies and launch strategies.
- Proactively interacts, collaborates and communicates with sales, support, and regional marketing functions to use market information to understand the services usage and customer feedback.
- Identifies, prioritizes and maintains relationships with collaborators, key opinion leaders and industry organizations.
- Identifies customer needs and provides input for improvement to processes, new market opportunities and future business development.
- Manages service line portfolio (services definitions, forecasting, services offering updates).
- Conducts detailed research and analysis to understand the market, industry, platforms, services and competitor trends for the business area.
- Participates as a team member in planning new service and platform offerings.
- Ensures service offerings are leveraged based on market opportunities.
Qualifications
- A strong background in the life sciences; a minimum of a BS/BA degree, or equivalent, is required with a strong working knowledge of biological testing and next generation sequencing applications.
- 5 + years progressive experience of in the genomics space is required. Sales and product management in the scientific markets is preferred. Experience in selling or marketing services would be an advantage.
- Talent for leading and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to create and execute a defined and focused course of action.
- Excellent discussion facilitation and listening skills.
- Proven experience developing and delivering a sophisticated customer-driven marketing or sales plan.
- A progressive, creative thinker, with analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to integrate best practices
- A strong initiative and capability to take ownership and drive projects to completion.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
