Product Specialist, Quantitative Analytics recruitment

We are adding a Product Specialist to our Quantitative Analytics group in Chicago, IL. The Product Specialist will become skilled at using the Thomson Reuters Quantitative Analytics products and content sets, and provide technical support for customers who utilize the products' powerful mathematical programming language for quantitative research. In doing so, individuals provide training for new clients, ongoing training for existing clients, and user support for financial research projects that require back testing, model development, strategy simulation, and database expertise. Responsibilities also include: writing custom query solutions to efficiently retrieve financial data for quantitative analysis, improving query performance by streamlining processes and taking advantage of database structure (metadata, table keys, etc.), as well as assisting the Thomson Reuters Quantitative Analytics Data and Development Teams in controlling the quality of data content and software functionality.
Primary responsibilities:
- Handle client phone/email inquiries and recommend solutions with regards to product navigation, functionality, content, data quality and entitlements
- Coordinate with other Thomson Reuters teams (Client Support, Technical Support, Content, Commercial managers) to quickly resolve client inquiries
- Assist clients in building proprietary back-testing models using the Thomson Reuters Quantitative Analytics products
- Work with Quantitative Research Analysts, Portfolio Managers and Hedge Fund Managers by assisting them in financial research projects and model development
- Proactively support all clients in the use of Thomson Reuters Quantitative Analytics products to promote increased product usage and further establish Thomson Reuters products into the client's workflow
- Assist in the continual development and evolution of the Quantitative Analytics group
Skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally with those who have a broad range of financial knowledge and technical experience
- Ability to manage priorities and multi-task using well developed time management skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- SQL programming knowledge
- Java programming knowledge
- Understanding of financial markets
- Familiarity with Financial Statement Analysis, Back-Testing Investment Strategies and Portfolio Management
- Some travel required
Desired skills:
- Customer facing experience
- Pursuing CFA designation
- Experience in Quantitative Analytics / Equity Research / Equity or Credit risk or financial modelling
- Familiarity with statistics and working knowledge with the econometrical packages like SPSS / Minitab / Stata / SAS / Matlab
