The role of the BNY Mellon Asset Management Product Strategy and Development Manager works to ensure that we have a complete, profitable and competitive product range that meets our clients needs across all our distribution channels. The incumbent will help direct BNY Mellon AM`s U.S. product development and design. S/he is responsible for supporting all aspects of identifying opportunities for product needs across the AM spectrum including Mutual Fund and Wrap account /SMA product development and design, competitive analysis and marketplace positioning, and participating in new product launches. The incumbent will ensure that the product offerings and designs fit with the firm s overall product strategy and satisfy client solution needs. This position will also be relied on by senior management to proactively acquire and communicate knowledge of current and developing trends across the asset management business. The incumbent will also be given assignments by senior management to lead research efforts on cutting edge industry themes. In order to accomplish this, s/he will partner heavily with Sales and Investment Management to identify, analyze and support new product creation and product opportunities. This position will identify new opportunities, prepare thorough analysis and presentation of findings, and make recommendations of product opportunities and designs that are appropriate for our business. The incumbent will have an advanced understanding of our internal and external client s investment needs as well as our investment products and investment platforms.

Qualifications

Qualifications / requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. Prefer continuing education within a financial emphasis (MBA). Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic marketing, product management, or portfolio management within the investment management industry. 10 - 15 years preferred. Possibly consider candidates with a focus on sales within the mutual fund, institutional or hedge fund investment industry. Strongly prefer Series 6, or must obtain within specified timeframe. Strongly prefer CFA or CIMA, or progress towards either (or other equivalent certification). Must have proven ability to influence others and build consensus amongst several stakeholders. Must be able to manage complex projects and lead cross functional teams. May be required to lead/manage staff. Must be client-focused with proven ability to create and execute initiatives to meet strategic objectives. Must be team-oriented with ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines with limited supervision. Requires strong analytical skills paired with ability to write persuading business plans. Marketing writing and verbal communication skills necessary. Requires attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Ability to work independently and in a team. Strong analytical skills with a high level of intellectual curiosity. Positive, collegial attitude, and enthusiasm. Demonstrated problem solving skills Solid business judgment. Responsive and have a strong sense of accountability and ownership for their work. An entrepreneurial spirit, collaborative and flexible mindset is required in this highly cross-functional role where priorities often change.
