Production / Assembly Supervisor Job in Roanoke 24012, Virginia US

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for supervising various production lines and operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures, ensuring smooth production operation during the shift and to coordinate staffing and execution within the business unit. These duties are performed personally and through subordinates to ensure established business goals are met. This position is also responsible for monitoring employees’ working time, approving payroll information, enforcing company policies and standards, and addressing personnel issues as they arise.

KEY ATTRACTIONS:
This position is a key leadership role in the assembly department of the facility, and is responsible for approximately 50 hourly employees. This role is ideal for a motivated self starter who is grooming to take on larger roles in the future. This role will get complete exposure to the business, as it is fully integrated with the Crouse-Hinds Operations team in Roanoke. This role is also housed in the central Distribution Center for all of Cooper Crouse-Hinds, and therefore will get exposure to different products and parts of the business as well.

DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role will be working with a wide range of people in varying roles across the organization, including hourly associates, other support personnel within the facility, personnel at other facilities and outside suppliers. The position is responsible for coordinating the daily operational activities of the business unit. This position ensures that the routine daily operations are productive, safe and also includes maintaining a clean and healthy work environment consistent with established policies and procedures.

· Supervise production line operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures and ensure that associates are assigned in the most cost-effective manner for completion of the daily workload. This includes being responsible for coordinating shift schedules to include: work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations
· Monitor group performance measurements and act as a catalyst to support improvement activities to achieve the established improvement goals. This includes coordinating production startups, shutdowns and changeovers
· Coordinate the activities of the associates to assure that performance targets, both productivity related and customer service related, are achieved. · Train and coach associates and ensure that new or transferred employees are adequately trained to meet the requirements of their positions.· Provide feedback to the Business Unit Manager concerning performance of the associates.
· Ensure that all required safety procedures and housekeeping requirements are clearly communicated and are being followed.
· Lead and participate in continuous improvement efforts and lean projects
· Provide a support function to the associates. Interface and communicate with the Associates, Human Resources, other shift supervisors and plant manager as required to assure that needs are met
