The primary responsibility of the Production Director is to manage the production activities of the FW brand, which includes magazines, books and apps. - Manage the three-person department. - Establish schedules and ensure that all deadlines are met. - Mark up and direct color re-touching via Smart Create. - Log-in/route/ship files through all stages of production. - Update/maintain templates. - Create laydown reports and attend positioning meetings with Sales and Manufacturing. - Serve as the point person w/ Art, Copy, Manufacturing, the Managing Editor and the printer. - Hire and manage freelancers. The ideal candidate must: - Be a current or former Production Director or Manager with solid management experience. - Be proficient in InDesign and Photoshop with a working knowledge of Illustrator, Smart Create, Woodwing and Adobe. - Be highly organized and able to create schedules and meet deadlines. - Be an effective communicator, who acts as a bridge with Art, Photo, Copy, Edit and the printer. - Be extremely attentive to detail. - Be a genuine team player who will work the hours necessary to meet deadlines.
