An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term contract Production Engineer, for Mission Systems Manufacturing in Cowes.

As a Production Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:
Support to Design Engineering and other departments by establishing cost estimates, and manufacturing solutions for proposed projects.
Development of Routings (manufacturing methods) for all new products or components, in order to ensure safe, effective, efficient and quality production processes.
Carry out effective "Process" to identify, reduce or eliminate risks to proposed manufacturing methods and processes.
Develop Standardised Work for all manufacturing processes, defining manufacturing methods and processes required to achieve Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery objectives.
Develop and maintain accurate Standard Times, for all manufacturing process, to assist with product costing and capacity.
Carry out effective Capacity Planning, highlight capacity shortfalls and identify ways to eliminate these.
Undertake tooling studies and manage the sourcing of new tooling required to complete a project.
Proactive support for manufacturing, to resolve daily production issues quickly.
Follow up of all concerns relating to equipment or process, by thoroughly investigating and resolving root causes.
Continuously review existing processes to identify and eliminate waste using Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
Analyse processes using appropriate method/work study techniques to achieve Target works costs.
To establish risk assessments working with the Safety Health Environment department to identify and reduce significant risk to personnel plant operations.
Project Manage improvements to processes, facilities and equipment, to ensure the project goals are delivered on time.
Review current production methods and processes to identify and implement the most appropriate method of manufacture, that best support the Operations Strategic Plan.
Review Value Stream Maps, processes and work balance to develop and implement improvements to the production flow.
Contribution to Improvement processes with personal experience of delivering Lean methodologies
Plan space requirements, workflow layout and design layout for the manufacturing facility using modern manufacturing techniques

As a Production Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
HNC or equivalent and extensive experience in Electro-Mechanical production engineering role or Degree with experience in Production Engineering
MS Project.
Familiarity with writing specifications, procedures and instructions.
Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in, work study and activity sampling techniques.
Experience of working in a SAP environment for be an advantage but is not essential.

Salary - £25,000+
