About the Job

Our client, a market leading manufacturer, require an experienced Production Engineering Manager to join the team at their site near Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Production Engineering Manager will be responsible for all Plant Engineering -ensuring maximum uptime in all manufacturing areas by improving machine efficiency and the Teams performance. The post holder will also be responsible manufacturing work instructions, capital project approval and implementation.
Direct reports will include the Engineering Manager and Maintenance Team along with all sub contractors/ third party workers.
Duties Responsibilities will include:
• Through best practice production engineering, move the manufacturing process towards a world class operation.
• To be the process expert on site, involved with problem identification and resolution of issues.
• Responsible for all engineering documentation, including the maintenance of manufacturing SOP's, within the quality system.
• Give direction, training and leadership to the Maintenance Team to achieve full integration into the Manufacturing Team.
• Responsible for raising capital project requests across all Plant engineering areas, with supporting documentation, costings and timings included.
• Ensure the accuracy of bills of resource, following changes or improvements to a process, in conjunction with the Planning Dept.
• Manage all sub contract / third party contracts, making recommendations where feasible to bring these functions in-house.
• Control engineering spend, ensuring best price is obtained for all work/ parts.
• Management of engineering stock.
• Complete responsibility for the site.
• Management and monthly production of risk register.
• Responsible for energy.
• Ensure that specified safe practices are used in accordance with statutory requirements and Company Safety Policies.
• Working with the Health Safety Manager, ensure our environmental controls are in place and compliant with legislation
• Participate in the overall management of the site as a Senior Member of the Management Team.
• To carry out other duties appropriate to the position as directed by the Operations Director.
• All legal contracts and documents need to be countersigned by Managing Director.
Applicants must have prior experience of a similar Engineering Management role in the FMCG manufacturing sector - ideally this experience will have been gained in a food/ health care environment (but this is not essential), experience of working to BRC standards would also be advantageous. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, possess strong communication skills and be efficient and well organised. They should have a proven ability to prioritise and "multitask" whilst working in a methodical manner - candidates must possess strong organisational skills.
In return for meeting the above criteria the successful candidate will be rewarded with a salary of between £35,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience). The package will also include benefits including 25 days holiday (plus stats), life assurance, contributory pension scheme and health plan.
