Production Lead/Machine Operator

Our company has been in business since 1868 and our solid growth has given us the opportunity to open an additional manufacturing plant, our first in the Omaha area. This is your chance to get in on the ground floor of a company with lots of upward mobility as we plan to staff the plant with up to 70 people in the next 9 months.
Position Summary
As a Production Lead/Machine Operator, you will primarily be responsible for setting up and starting production equipment used to make shampoo, toothpaste or chemical products packaged for consumer use. You will be cross trained to run all of the machinery in the plant and ensure that efficiency and quality standards are met on the line that you are running for the shift. Previous high speed packaging machine operation is essential for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Run packaging or filling equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Report any maintenance issues
- Start machine and observe operation to detect malfunctions
- Make minor adjustments to machine to optimize production
- Inspect product to insure it meets quality specifications
- Ensure that production schedules and quotas are met
- Train and provide feedback to Production Assistants to ensure that efficiency and quality standards are met.
- Cross train on all lines and machines.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude. Must have an aptitude for understanding, maintaining and trouble-shooting packaging equipment.
- A complete working knowledge of filling or packaging equipment.
- Prior experience running filling or packaging equipment required.
- Requires the ability to act independently as well as to support a team to accomplish critical and timely objectives .
- Ability to handle numbers and basic math.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
- Vertical fill equipment experience is a PLUS!
- Ability to lift and/or move over 50 pounds.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to work the night shift when needed.
- Great team building, communication and people skills required.
