Production Planner
Omron Oilfield Marine is a leading design/manufacturing company providing innovative control systems for drilling rigs in the oil and gas drilling industry.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within and between departments to support the Master Scheduler and on time deliveries of customer orders according to production schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create Shop Floor Order Packets.
- Coordinate the pull of materials from the warehouse.
- Expedite material shortages through purchasing and the shop.
- Reviewing and distributing production and shipment schedules.
- Maintain close daily communication with department supervisors to determine progress of work, production efficiency, utilization and completion dates.
- Review short term capacity issues with Master Scheduler by recommending overtime, alternate routings, and/or subcontracting.
- Insure Shop Floor Orders are completed and closed properly in the Macola system while maintaining inventory accuracy of raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished goods.
- Keep management and the Master Scheduler informed of any unresolved and critical delays in manufacturing which may require reschedules.
- Communicate engineering changes and provide updated Shop Floor Orders as required.
- Compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.
- Be the contact and maintain the schedule for subcontract suppliers.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
· High School diploma or GED, College Degree in Business preferred
· APICS Certification will be highly recommended and preferred
Experience:
· 3-5 years experience in production control, or 5-7 years in manufacturing with responsibility for planning and meeting production schedules.
· Experience electrical controls manufacturing industry preferred.
Technical Abilities:
· Proven ability to work with others, resolve problems, and operate under pressure to take immediate and effective action.
· Knowledge of electrical assembly and components a plus.
· Computer skills, experience and knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, Excel spreadsheets, and Word Processing. Macola software knowledge a plus.
· Ability to read and interpret drawings and diagrams.
