Porcelain Steel Buildings (PSB), a Division of White Castle System Inc., is seeking a Production Planner. The basic purpose of this position is to schedule all work through the shop in a manner that meets the customer's delivery dates with little or no overtime. This position is responsible for the creation of all work orders issued to the shop, ensuring that all the correct information is contained in those work orders. This position will also work with purchasing to ensure that all required raw materials are available to support production, assist with inventory control, as well as physical inventory.
Essential Functions:
- Development of production schedules that are in line with customer expectations while optimizing financial impacts to PSB.
- Work with Sales Team, Management, and the Materials Supervisor to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Work with Management, Engineering, and Quality Control to coordinate new production runs.
- Monitor raw material levels required for production.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have good knowledge of computers, internet, Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Must have good understanding of manufacturing processes in order to create schedules that are attainable. This knowledge comes from working in a factory environment and participating in production activities or through some type of manufacturing education such as an apprentice type program.
- Must have ability to make last minute changes in production schedule to accommodate changes requested by customers.
- Excellent communication skills and professionalism are required to deal with customer contacts for the coordination of schedules and procurement of materials.
