OVERVIEW
The role of the Production Superintendent is to lead work teams in their efforts to achieve business objectives by producing, in a safe and responsible manner, quality product in the most cost effective and efficient way possible. This involves helping team members take full responsibility for their own performance, increase their skill and confidence level to maximize their capabilities, including empowering team members to learn how to make decisions and solve their own problems in the course of achieving business objectives. Drives continuous improvement efforts in support of process safety management, productivity, quality and customer excellence, and partners with site leadership team to support site alignment, engagement, and accountability initiatives. Schedules and plans production activities, partnering with regional supply chain and customer service personnel. Effectively partners with region site environmental and safety personnel to drive improved safety performance. Maintains a strong relationship with the Commercial organization to include RD.
REQUIRED
Experience in similar chemical industry including batch and continuous processes in a successful team based environment.
Demonstrated history of above average performance including: strong leadership, change management, communication, computer/SAP experience, and Resin/formaldehyde process chemistry knowledge proficiency, and conflict management.
PREFERRED
BS in chemical/mechanical engineering or science
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads and ensures operation team's Environmental Health Safety (EHS) compliance; serves as the Process Safety Steward; communicates clear performance expectations.
Supports efforts to align, engage and promote accountability; leads by example.
Produce product that meets customer needs in a safe, responsible, and cost effective manner.
Works effectively with cross functional teams; achieves business results.
Lead site quality improvement team oversee operations efforts to drive continuous improvement. Practices root cause analysis to drive out process variability and promotes process standardization.
Provides overall leadership for resin, catalyst, wax, formaldehyde and shipping production personnel. Foster culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and customer service throughout the facility.
Fosters open, honest, direct and effective cross-functional/cross-team communication, and wins the support of others by building trust and credibility.
